In cooperation with the Union County Emergency Notification System, the City of La Grande is now providing text updates for select field operations, including areas of public interest such as snow removal efforts, emergency road closures, or sweeper locations during leaf removal.  Some of our field operations are executed with little to no advanced warning.  With little time to plan the operation, it is difficult to find effective ways to get important information out to the public.  Utilizing this service will allow interested parties to sign up to receive text updates that will include project information or notice of upcoming closures. 

To sign up for a specific set of notifications, text the following keywords to 888777:

  • LGSNOW - To receive updates on any snow removal efforts within the City of La Grande.
  • LGLEAF - To receive updates on areas that will be swept during La Grande's annual leaf removal program.
  • LGROADS - To receive updates on road closures within La Grande.

By requesting notifications through this service, you will not be added to the messages delivered by the Union County Emergency Notification System.  To sign up for those notices, you will need to visit Union County's website here. 

Due to restrictions in the size of messages that can be sent through this system, some messages may direct you to where additional information can be obtained (e.g. La Grande Public Works Facebook page).  While we are excited to offer this new service and look forward to increased communications of upcoming operations, it is important to remember that it will not guarantee notification of any specific event.
