Second Street Slippage Reconstruction
Reconstruction of the portion of Second Street between Spring and Penn Avenues was started on Monday, October 24, 2011. This portion of the street had been showing signs of slight slippage for several years; however, Public Works crews noticed significant slippage earlier this year and that portion of the street was closed as a safety precaution. Of significant concern was the 18" water main buried in the street. Should that main have been compromised had the street given way completely, significant flooding and damage could have occurred.
The contractor for this project is JAL Construction.
