DUII Crash on C Avenue near Birnie Park

DUII CRASH ON C AVENUE NEAR BIRNIE PARK

On Saturday morning, August 5, 2023 at 00:54 AM police officers from the La Grande Police Department responded to a single vehicle crash on C Avenue, where it meets Gekeler Lane, in La Grande.  At the scene of the crash officers found a 2003 Chevrolet Corvette with extensive damage, lying on its top, in the front lawn area of the USDA Forestry and Range Sciences building.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the vehicle had been traveling east on C Avenue prior to leaving the roadway.  The vehicle jumped the curb on the north side of the roadway in front of the Forestry and Range Sciences building, struck two large trees, and ultimately came to rest upside down.  The violence of the crash caused the driver to be ejected from the vehicle. 

The driver and lone occupant of the vehicle was Kyle Damian Micovich, a 25-year-old La Grande resident.  Micovich was transported to Grande Ronde Hospital for observation and treatment of minor injuries. 

Following investigation, Micovich was cited in lieu of custody, due to being in hospital, for Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants.  This investigation is ongoing and additional charges are pending. 

The La Grande Police Department was assisted on-scene by the La Grande Fire Department and the Union County Sheriff’s Office.
