Marijuana Related Businesses - Banned

By Ordinance of the City Council of the City of La Grande, all marijuana related business are banned or prohibited from locating and operating within the City of La Grande. This includes medical marijuana processing sites, medical marijuana dispensaries, recreational marijuana producers, recreational marijuana processors, recreational marijuana wholesalers and recreational marijuana retailers.

In January 2015, Ordinance 3219, Series 2015 was adopted by the City Council which declares a moratorium prohibiting the establishment and operation of any new marijuana related facilities.  

In September 2015, Ordinance 3227, Series 2015, was adopted by the City Council, pursuant to SB 460, banning the pre-sale of recreational marijuana from existing medical marijuana dispensaries.

In October 2015, Ordinance 3228, Series 2015, was adopted by the City Council, pursuant to HB 3400, banning the establishment and operation of new medical marijuana processing sites, medical marijuana dispensaries, recreational marijuana producers, recreational marijuana processors, recreational marijuana wholesalers and recreational marijuana retailers. Upon the adoption of the Ordinance, the two (2) existing medical marijuana facilities within the City became nonconforming uses and are grandfathered. They may continue operation, but are prohibited from any expansion, relocation or other increase in use beyond what was originally approved by the City prior to the ordinance taking effect.
