Burn Regulations (Season Now Open)

Open Burning within the city limits is now Open for the spring season. The open burning period will be issued between April 1, 2022 - May 31, 2022. Permits may be acquired over the phone by calling 541-963-3123 during our office hours: Monday - Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic:

• Burn permits must be obtained over the phone.
• Burn permits will now be issued free of charge until further notice.
• You must still obtain a permit for open burning during the spring burn season listed above.
• Please call us at (541)-963-3123 to obtain your permit.
• You will no longer have a paper copy, we will maintain a physical permit for you.
• Prior to any open burning you must call and notify us the day you plan to burn.
• Prior to any open burning you must also call the Union County Air Quality Improvement program (541-963-4040) to determine if burning is allowed.
• Burn permits will only be issued to residential zoned properties. (If requesting to burn on commercial zoned property, you must call and obtain a permit through Department of Environmental Quality).
