Tree Ordinances & Permits
Tree Ordinances are designed to enhance public safety and preserve community trees.
- Property owners and managers are responsible for maintaining all landscaping in the right-of-way adjacent to their property, including the maintenance of street trees.
- If you are planting, pruning or removing trees in the public rights-of-way you must obtain a permit from the City.
- City Ordinance prohibits topping of trees.
- City Ordinance also requires that trees, shrubs and other vegetation must not impede pedestrian or vehicular traffic.
- Tree Services working within the City of La Grande must have a current Commercial Tree Service Permit.
