Do I need permission from the City to plant a tree by my home?

If you are planning on planting a tree in the City right-of-way you must obtain approval from the Urban Forestry Division. By planting a tree that is well adapted to its planting location, you give it the best opportunity to grow to its full potential and live a long life. On the other hand, poorly selected trees usually have shorter lives and may create conflicts. Street trees must coexist with vehicles, pedestrians, traffic signs, underground utilities, overhead wires, and other trees and landscaping. The Urban Forestry Division will help you choose the right tree for the right place.
