When is it OK to use my wood stove?

The City of La Grande regulates a voluntary wood burning program from October 1 through March 31 every year. During that time period, City staff determines what the "burn call" is going to be during that day. If the burn call is green, everyone is able to use their wood stove. If the burn call is yellow, only EPA certified wood stoves are allowed to burn small hot fires. If the burn call is red, the City discourages all wood stove burning unless it is your only heat source. Again, build a small hot fire to prevent excess particulate mater from entering the air.

The burn call is posted on the City's Air Quality web page, in the Observer, enviroflash, or by calling 541-963-2201.
