Communications Division

The La Grande Police Department Communications Division, commanded by a Communications Manager, has the responsibility for the delivery of 911 and Police Dispatch services, as well as support services that include, Records and Reception.  The Communications Division is staffed with 1 Communications Manager, 3 Communication Specialists (Dispatch Supervisors), 7 Communication Technicians (Dispatchers), 1 Records Specialist, and 1 Clerk/Receptionist.  

The Communications Division consists of two sections.  These sections are:

• 911 Dispatch
• Reception / Records

911 Dispatch:
Our 9-1-1 Dispatch Center provides police, fire, and EMS dispatch and communications services for 22 agencies in Union County. If you call 9-1-1 in Union County, you will get one of our dispatchers at the La Grande Police Department.  As the Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) for all of Union County, our Dispatch Center is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including holidays and weekends.

In 2023, our Dispatch Center logged and dispatched 26,188 calls for service. Of those calls, 5,829 were "Imminent threat to life or property" or "Needs immediate response" incidents.


Records / Reception:
Our Records Specialist accepts, processes, distributes and maintains all police records.  The Records Specialist is responsible for compiling all records, distributing copies to prosecuting agencies, other law enforcement or related agencies, and processes all public record requests for police records. The Records Specialist manages any court orders for expunction or sealing of records and the retention of police records.

The Clerk/Receptionist and the Records Specialist act as the reception center for the police department and answers the business phones, during regular business hours, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.    
 

Communications Division Leadership Team
