Police Facility Committee Volunteers Wanted
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Police Facilities Committee
City of La Grande
March 5, 2014
Robert Strope, City Manager, or
Angelika Brooks, Assistant to the City Manager
The La Grande City Manager is soliciting volunteers to serve on a Police Facilities Committee to review the facility needs of the La Grande Police Department, and develop a recommendation to the City Council regarding a long-term solution.
The La Grande Police Department is currently co-located with the Union County Sheriff’s Department. The current location does not meet the LGPD’s needs for a number of reasons. It is the intention of the City Manager to assemble a committee that includes representatives from the community to evaluate our current requirements, determine our future needs, and identify a variety of alternatives to solve the problem. The Committee’s work will include exploring options for a separate facility as well as potential joint facilities that could include a number of partners. The Committee will also look at potential funding solutions.
If you are interested in participating, please prepare a letter to the City Manager explaining why you would be the best choice to serve on the committee, including any specific skills or experience you have that will help the team be successful. Submit your letter to: City of La Grande, Attention Robert Strope, City Manager, PO Box 670, La Grande, OR 97850, before March 21, 2014. Please include your name, mailing address, phone number, and e-mail address in your letter.
