- The La Grande Police Department is warning residents of daytime burglaries. On May 8, La Grande Police responded to two different residential daytime burglaries in the eastern area of the city. LA GRANDE POLICE ARE ASKING RESIDENTS TO PLEASE TAKE THE FOLLOWING PRECAUTIONS WITH THEIR HOMES: ENSURE all doors and windows are locked. REPORT any Suspicious persons or activity you observe in your neighborhood. Burglars will often case a residence before burglarizing it. ASK a trusted neighbor, relative or friend to watch your home if you are going to be gone. CONSIDER an alarm system. FOR your safety, if you believe someone has unlawfully entered your home and may still be there, please do not enter. Call 911 and let the police check your home. IF you find someone has been in your home, do not touch anything as you may unintentionally destroy evidence.
