UNION COUNTY WARMING STATION - APPEAL

Application and Appeal Schedule:

October 8, 2019:  Planning Commission Decision - approving the Union County Warming Station application

October 18, 20019:  Appeal filed by property and business owners.

December 4, 2019:  City Council Decision - denying appeal and upholding the Planning Commission's decision, which resulted in approving the Union County Warming Stations Conditional Use Permit.  (Note: This decision is on hold, pending a 21 day appeal period.)

December 30, 2019:  Expiration of 21 day appeal period.  The City Council decision will become final if not appealed.  (Note:  An appeal of the City Council's decision is made to the Oregon State Land Use Board of Appeals.)

City Council Decision Materials

On December 4, 2019, the City Council held a Public Hearing at the La Grande Middle School to consider the appeal of the Union County Warming Station's Conditional Use Permit.  After reviewing all evidence and testimony submitted, the City County unanimously voted to deny the appeal and uphold the Planning Commission's decision, which approves the Union County Warming Station's Conditional Use Permit.  This application remains on hold, pending a 21 day appeal period whereby the City Council Decision may be appealed to the Oregon State Land Use Board of Appeals.  The City Council's decision letter is dated for distribution on Monday, December 9, 2019.  As a result, the 21 day appeal period will expire on December 30, 2019. Copies of the City Council decision is available through this link, which will take you to a separate page with several download choices.
